ELEVEN residential construction sites at Ginninderry have been put on notice after WorkSafe ACT found safety breaches on the sites late last week.

Ten sites were issued improvement notices and one site was issued a prohibition notice after WorkSafe found safety breaches including fall from height risks due to unsafe scaffolding, poor housekeeping, site security and signage issues and electrical safety concerns.

Work health and safety commissioner c says the compliance activity in Ginninderry was part of WorkSafe ACT’s ongoing campaign to improve safety standards in the residential construction industry.

“Over the past few months, our inspectors have been visiting greenfield sites across Canberra to make sure safety measures are being followed in residential construction,” Ms Agius says.

“We want to make sure people are working in safe conditions, especially in higher-risk industries like construction.

“Making sure everyone goes home safely at the end of the day is our priority, and we will continue to visit sites and issue notices to help regulate safety in this industry.”
