Symphony Orchestra plays without an audience

English-born Australian organist Joseph Nolan.

IN lieu of the cancelled Canberra Symphony Orchestra performances, which would have featured English-born Australian organist Joseph Nolan on Wednesday and Thursday, the orchestra, conducted by Nick Milton, has recorded Saint-Saens’ “Organ Symphony” without an audience.

The recording, produced in collaboration with the ANU School of Music and supported by PwC Australia, will be shared later this week.

“Music is such an integral part of our community, particularly when we face challenges,” says Canberra Symphony Orchestra CEO Rachel Thomas.

“It’s my hope that the people are encouraged and uplifted by this recording.

“The CSO is committed to supporting its musicians and our community through this time.”

She said patrons who had purchased tickets for “Llewellyn One: Organ Symphony” would be contacted by the CSO and would be eligible for a full refund or might like to convert their ticket to a tax-deductible donation to the orchestra via cso.org.au
