DUE to circumstances beyond the club’s control, the chief executive of Eastlake Football Club has announced the closure of Eastlake Kaleen club. 

In an email to members this afternoon (July 2) Anthony Ratcliffe says Eastlake Football Club, at it’s June board meeting, with a great deal of sadness, made the difficult decision to close Eastlake Kaleen.

“The decision to close the venue is due to circumstances that are beyond our control, all of which have unfortunately been compounded by COVID-19,” he said.

“The Eastlake Group has been encouraged by the ACT government to diversify our income, however, due to the financial pressures in the current environment, the age of the asset at Kaleen and the inability to develop the building and surrounding area we have been left with no other decision.

“We understand that this closure will have a heavy impact on our members in the Kaleen/Giralang area. We would like to take the opportunity to thank those patrons for their support of the Eastlake Group. We hope the members of Kaleen will take the opportunity to visit Eastlake Gungahlin or one of our other venues.

“All employees of the Eastlake Group who worked at Eastlake Kaleen will be transferred to other venues across the group in similar roles.”

Private fitness businesses at the site continue to trade.
