“Cease and desist” by Caroline Ambrus.

M16 Artspace has four new exhibitions opening this week: “Mark Making”, curated by Jas Hugonnet; “Trajectories” by Justin Wasserman; “Cease and Desist” by Caroline Ambrus and Annette Schneider: And Jacqui Malins’ Chutespace installation “Re-pose”. The exhibitions open at 21 Blaxland Crescent, Griffith, 6pm, Thursday, February 27. All welcome. It then runs noon-5pm, Wednesday to Sunday, until March 15.

IN “L’invitation au Voyage” mezzo-soprano AJ America and pianist Ella Luhtasaari present an evening of French melodies by Duparc, Debussy, Poulenc and Fauré. At Drill Hall Gallery, 6pm, Sunday, March 1. Bookings at trybooking.com

THE first instalment of this year’s Drill Hall Gallery Lecture Series will see architectural historian Peter Kohane discussing Le Corbusier as a highly influential – and highly controversial – theorist and polemicist. “ENLIGHTEN 2020” lights up at 8pm tomorrow (February 28) and continues until March 15 with events like the Canberra Night Noodle Markets, “Lights!Canberra!Action!”, Enlighten Alley and “Attractions after Dark” in Canberra’s national buildings. All details at enlightencanberra.com

“UNDERTOW” is a female-driven film created by a female-strong crew, which tells the story of two women whose lives become dangerously enmeshed. Q&A session, Dendy Canberra, 7pm, Saturday, February 29. Bookings at dendy.com.au

“MUSIC by the River” kicks off at 5pm this Saturday, then the Canberra Symphony Orchestra performs orchestral favourites, from the overture to Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” to “Summer” from Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” from 6pm in Queen Elizabeth II Park, Queanbeyan. Free general admission on the grassed riverbank. Pack a picnic or purchase food onsite.

SOPRANO Madeline Anderson and accompanist Grant Roberts will present a variety concert of opera classics, jazz and more at St Andrews Anglican Church, 47 Elrington Street, Braidwood at 2pm, this Sunday, March 1. Tickets at the door from 1.15pm. Cash only.

ART Song Canberra’s first concert for the year, “Girls Wearing the Trousers”, will see soprano Sarahlouise Owens and pianist Natalia Tkachenko performing works set for men by Schumann, Boulanger and Shostakovich. “CLIPPED.TV” will be a night of Australian music video premieres, featuring Q&As with the filmmakers and artists. Canberran music videos premiering on the night include “L.I” by Hope Wilkins (directed by Claire Warren), “With Your Body” by Kirrah Amosa (directed by Nic Vevers), “Two Steps” by Betty Alto, (directed by Dan Unsworth) , “Begin Again” by Jason Maynard (directed by Ashlee Kate Robertson) and “Sink Like A Stone” by Biilmann (directed by Anthony Bowler) featuring rapper Citizen Kay. Joseph Tawadros

THE Joseph Tawadros Quartet returns to Canberra with its popular blend of middle-eastern, classical and contemporary jazz.
