A KAMBAH man allegedly stole the car keys from an “acquaintance” while she was sleeping on Tuesday (October 27) night.
The 29-year-old took the car and refused to return it despite the owner making several phone calls to both him and police.
When the vehicle was recovered on Friday (October 30) its number plates had been removed and replaced with plates stolen from another vehicle.
The man was arrested at Canberra Airport yesterday (November 1) afternoon where he was preparing to board a flight. He’s been charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent and assault.
