Aged care worker tests positive for covid

A CANBERRA aged care worker has tested positive for covid in the past 24 hours, according to ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr.

The employee of Greenway Views Village in Tuggeranong is one of 19 new covid cases. There are now 28 active cases in the ACT.

The employee, who had received the first dose of the vaccine, was believed to be unknowingly infectious while working during three shifts from August 10-12, Mr Barr said at the daily 11.45am media briefing today (August 16).

She did not become symptomatic until August 13, when she got tested.

The facility is now in lockdown to manage a potential outbreak, he said.

“We will keep the families of the resident up-to-date of what is happening onsite and the care that we will be providing to their relatives,” he said.

Lockdown extended by two weeks
