Cops stopped drugs from reaching Hughes home

A HUGHES woman allegedly attempted to import the border-controlled drug, gamma-butyrolactone (GBL), into the ACT.

Following an investigation, police intercepted the parcel yesterday (July 8) and confirmed it contained more than a kilogram GBL.

The GBL was replaced with an inert substance and delivered to the woman’s residence yesterday.

The woman was arrested shortly afterwards.

She will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court charged with importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug, attempting to possess a commercial quantity of an unlawfully imported drug and failing to comply with a 3LA order relevant to a serious offence.

Anyone with information about the importation, distribution, manufacture or supply of drugs in the ACT is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website
