Man dies in Barton Highway crash

A MAN is dead following a three vehicle crash on the Barton Highway, near Gungahlin Drive, earlier today (September 15). 

At about 11.20am two cars and a truck collided causing the truck to roll over. Medical assistance was provided by members of the public before emergency services arrived.

One of the drivers, a man, died at the scene and the other two drivers were transported to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

ACT Policing’s major collision team is examining the circumstances surrounding the collision and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has information about the collision, and who has not yet spoken with police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website quoting reference number 6904853.

Barton Highway, citybound, will remain closed for a number of hours while investigations are underway in to the cause of the incident.

Emergency services are still urging the public to avoid the area.

This is the ninth fatality on ACT roads this year.
