Lanette’s inspired by health and fitness

DIRECTOR of Speedlift Kingston and Pilates Canberra, Lanette Helene has taught pilates for 26 years.

Director of Speedlift Kingston and Pilates Canberra, Lanette Helene.

“Every day that I wake up, I am grateful that I have a job that I’m passionate about and fully engaged in,” she says.

Lanette says she’s always been involved in movement, was an elite dancer when she was young and retired at 20. Then she took up powerlifting and during her pregnancy she continued to train physically.

“I was inspired to become a fitness instructor and was one of the first three personal trainers in Canberra in the early 1990s,” she says.

Fortunately, she had been developing an online platform for pilates when the first lockdown hit.

“The online studio was up and running within four days offering live online sessions and pre-recorded classes for clients,” says Lanette.

Speedlift is an electro-muscle-stimulation franchise that will be opening in December on the Kingston Foreshore.

“I am excited to be able to have two complementary health and fitness businesses that will benefit the people of Canberra,” she says.
