Specialist school identified as covid exposure site

A SPECIALIST school that educates students with significant intellectual disabilities and other associated impairments has been identified as a close contact covid exposure site in the past 24 hours.

The Malkara Specialist School in Garran was labelled a close contact site from 8.30am-3.30pm on September 7 and 8.

An early learning centre, Nipperville Early Learning Centre in Watson, was also identified as a close contact site from 8.45am-6.10pm on September 6 and 7.

Anyone who has been to any of these close contact exposure locations at the dates and times listed are required to complete the ACT Contact Declaration Form, immediately quarantine, get tested for COVID-19 as advised by ACT Health, and remain in quarantine until advised further by ACT Health, even if they get a negative test result.

Four casual contact sites were recorded in the past 24 hours as well, including:

  • Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health Service (main Reception in the new building), Narrabundah, 8.30am-4pm, September 10.
  • Narrabundah Friendly Grocer, 1.40pm-2.30pm, September 8.
  • Shell Coles Express Charnwood, 10am-11am, September 7.
  • Bus Route 50 Transport Canberra Code BUS435, Watson Shops to Dickson Interchange, 6.19am-6.28am, August 30.

People who have been to casual contact exposure locations during the times listed are expected to, complete the ACT Contact Declaration Form, immediately quarantine and get tested for COVID-19 as advised by ACT Health.

If a person was at the casual contact location less than four days ago, ACT Health says they will need two tests – one test as soon as they find out they are a casual contact and another test on day five after they were at the casual contact location.

People at the casual contact location four or more days ago only need to get one test.
