Man faces 15 counts following apartment car park thefts

A 25-year-old Belconnen man will face 15 charges in the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow (May 16) following an investigation into thefts from vehicles in a Belconnen apartment last month.

The man was arrested in Cook yesterday and police have charged him with seven counts of damaging property, four counts of minor theft, burglary, possession of a knife and failing to appear after a bail undertaking.

On Sunday April 3, police received a report that the car park at a College Street apartment complex had been broken into, and six vehicles accessed. Bank cards stolen from some of the vehicles were later used to make several fraudulent transactions.

Investigations revealed the break-ins had taken place between 4am and 5am, and CCTV footage identified two offenders.

On April 12, a 29-year-old Holt man was arrested and charged with 16 offences including burglary, damaging property, minor theft and obtaining property by deception.
