Petrol prices pump beyond $2

FUEL prices remain high in Canberra with motorists paying well over $2 per litre for unleaded.

According to PetrolSpy Australia, prices for regular unleaded fuel today (June 30) in Canberra ranged from 219.9c a litre at the Metro Petroleum in Mitchell, up to 241.9c at the Ampol in Nicholls.

For diesel Canberrans can expect to pay up to 239.9c a litre at the bowser.

As the war in the Ukraine continues, prices of oil are going through the roof, says NRMA Spokesperson Katrina Usman.

“Crude oil and gas prices continue to be impacted by the war in Ukraine, ongoing COVID-19 restrictions in Shanghai, and the tightness of the global oil market,” Ms Usman says.

Ms Usman says high fuel prices are having a “significant” impact on the cost of living.

“Higher fuel prices mean higher costs for getting goods from farms to supermarkets, and we’ve all been feeling the impacts at the checkout.”
