Woman dead as covid hospital numbers hit new record high

A WOMAN in her nineties has died with covid. Her death, the ACT’s 61st, comes as COVID-19 hospital numbers continue to hit new highs in Canberra, despite the daily infections number falling.

There is a record 89 people in hospital, including three in intensive care and two on ventilators, according to today’s (May 21) figures from ACT Health. This is up on yesterday’s 84 patients.

In reported daily cases, the ACT lodged 859 new infections (441 PCR and 418 RAT), an fall on yesterday’s 963. There are 5883 active cases in the ACT.
