Economist becomes new ACT Auditor General

ECONOMIST Michael Harris has been appointed for a seven-year term as the new ACT Auditor General. 

He will replace Maxine Cooper, who finished her fixed term in August.

Mr Harris has been the board chair of Metro Tasmania since 2013 and from 2017 has been the independent chair of the review of the “Tasmanian Fire Service Act”.

Mr Harris’ previous ACT experience was chief executive of the ACT Chief Minister’s Department from 2003 to 2009 and ACT Under Treasurer from 2002 to 2003. 

Mr Harris will start the role on February 8.
