ALL passengers who were on a Murrays bus to Canberra are being asked to quarantine themselves after the third confirmed coronavirus case, a woman in her 70s, was travelling on it.
Anyone who was on the Murrays bus from Sydney Airport to Canberra, departing at 12.25pm on March 14, are considered a close contact of the woman and are being urged to quarantine themselves.
The woman was also on a flight from Jakarta to Sydney, which arrived at 9.30am on 14 March. Dr Coleman says people in rows 41-45 on the flight are considered a close contact, too.
Any Canberrans sitting in these rows or on the Murrays bus are asked to quarantine themselves and call the Communicable Disease Control Section of ACT Health on 5124 9213 for further advice.
Anyone else travelling on this flight in other rows are not considered to be close contacts, and as a precaution, monitor their health until 28 March, says Dr Coleman. Self-quarantine is not required, she says.
Dr Coleman says the woman was likely exposed to the virus while overseas.
“She recently returned from overseas where we believe she has been exposed to the novel coronavirus,” says Dr Coleman.
“She is currently at home after being discharged from Canberra Hospital and is self-isolating at home with ACT Health support.
“We have identified several family and travel close contacts. As part of our contact tracing, ACT Health is making contact with these individuals today.”
The woman is the third confirmed case in the ACT.
