P-plater clocked at 133km/h overtaking a police car

A 21-year-old Harrison man will be fined more than $1800 after he was detected travelling at 133 km/h on Belconnen Way, Aranda today (December 23).

The man was driving a black BMW 335i sedan when he overtook an unmarked police car in the 80 km/h zone.

The driver was issued with an infringement for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45 km/h, which carries a fine of $1841 and six demerit points. His provisional licence will be suspended for three months.

Double demerit points begin at midnight tonight.
