Here’s a week’s worth of arts events in on column. It’s “Artsday” with HELEN MUSA.

RORY Lowe is an internationally touring comedian who’s touring “Highs and Lowes” where he’ll be joking about life, love and all the partying in between. He’ll be performing at Verity Lane Market, 7pm, Thursday, September 22. 

ACTING For The Fun Of It presents “Acting the Playtext,” a six-week course for adults (including Year 12 drama students) at the Hedley Beare Centre For Teaching and Learning, Stirling, Tuesdays from September 20-October 25. More from peterbwilkins@aol.com 0408 034373.

THE Friends of the School of Music and the ANU SOM Jazz Faculty are staging a night of music featuring students who make up the Recording Ensemble, and staff members John Mackey (saxophone), Miroslav Bukovsky (trumpet), Gregory Stott (guitar), Hugh Barrett (piano) and Eric Ajaye (bass). The Big Band Room, Peter Karmel Building, ANU, 7pm, Tuesday, September 20.

Lucas Allerton and Orlie Beer.

MEZZO-SOPRANO Orlie Beer and pianist Lucus Allerton will perform a program of songs of sacrifice and devotion. including “Voce di Donna” (from “La Gioconda”), “Field of the Dead” by Prokofiev, “Ne me quitte pas” by Jacques Brel, and Simon and Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water”. Wesley Music Centre, Forrest, 12.40pm-1.20pm, Wednesday, September 21.

UKRAINIAN pianist Alexey Botvinov makes his Australian concert debut, with all proceeds supporting his home country. The Q, Queanbeyan, 7pm, Wednesday, September 21.

ARTIST Eleanor Cole is holding an exhibition, “Déjà vu”, at Kyeema Gallery, 13 Gladstone Street, Hall, September 22-October 23. Official opening, 5.30 pm on Saturday, September 24 by Barry Cranston.
