THE Paint The Town Street Art Festival is about to kick off with mural sites and events across Wollondilly, south of Sydney, showcasing murals that reflect recovery since the 2019 Black Summer fires.
It’s the start of a four-part multi mural mega festival representing the voices and experiences of fire-affected community members and follows community consultations with Alexandra McCarthy, psychologist and art therapist and Joe Quilter, creative director of Paint the Town.
To kick off, Southern Tablelands Arts will host a free barbecue party at Picton Botanical Gardens between 11am and 3pm on Sunday (September 25) featuring a free public sausage sizzle, interactive mural painting with Joe Quilter and live music with River Road Creative Academy.
The festival finishes with the Paint The Town Party Day, 11am-3pm, on Saturday, October 8.
