Queanbeyan p-plater caught speeding on the Majura Parkway

AN 18-year-old man from Queanbeyan has had his licence suspended and been fined more than $1800 after speeding on Majura Parkway.

About 11.20am on Monday police were conducting traffic targeting along the Majura Parkway when the saw a white Ford Transit van travelling southbound at 147km/h in a 100km/h zone.

Police stopped the driver, who informed officers he was working as a courier, he was heading to collect an item and had a short timeframe.

The driver produced his NSW provisional P1 licence, which restricts him to a maximum speed of 90km/h.

His right to drive in the ACT was immediately suspended, and he was fined $1841.
