Woman assaulted and robbed in Rivett

A WOMAN was allegedly assaulted and robbed of cash by a 30-year-old man at a house in Rivett on Saturday night.

A short time later, the man and woman left the house at Lomatia Place before he allegedly assaulted the woman again near the Rivett Oval playground.

A member of the public – a man who was at the playground with his family – is believed to have intervened and the alleged offender ran off.

The victim sought help at a nearby aged-care facility on Bangalay Crescent.

The man was arrested at a Weston shopping centre on Sunday afternoon and appeared in court on Monday, charged with aggravated common assault and minor theft.

Anyone who witnessed the assault, specifically the man who intervened, and anyone from the aged-care facility should call 1800 333000.
