Le Couteur takes council lead in Woden Valley

Caroline Le Couteur… incoming president of the Woden Valley Community Council.

Former Greens MLA Caroline Le Couteur is the incoming president of the Woden Valley Community Council (WVCC).

She served two terms as a member of the ACT Legislative Assembly, representing Woden residents on both occasions.

Since retiring from the Assembly, she has been a committee member of the WVCC and convenor of the Friends of Mawson Ponds.

Outgoing president Fiona Carrick has served as WVCC president for seven years.

“I first met Ms Carrick in her role as president of the Woden Valley Community Council in 2016. She has done an amazing job in advocating for better planning to improve the social and economic development of Woden, particularly for community facilities,” says Ms Le Couteur.

“Her passion for the people in the Southside of Canberra and her knowledge of the issues facing them is outstanding.”

Ms Carrick says: “I am particularly pleased that we have been able to host many community events such as Woden’s 60th , Music by the Ponds, Carols on the Square and the Creative Woden Art Exhibition. We have held around 60 public meetings to hear the views of the community and written over 60 submissions to the ACT government,” she says.

Great to see Caroline still involved in her local community! Unpaid, that’s real commitment from a former politician, a rare thing to see.
