The National Museum is hosting Illuminating Egypt, a free event featuring music and dance, street food from Egypt, the Middle East and North Africa, a souk-inspired market and family-friendly activities on April 13.
Stage
- Sydney Theatre Company’s hit production, RBG: Of Many, One, with Heather Mitchell reviving her role as the indomitable Ruth Bader Ginsburg, is at The Playhouse, April 11-21.
- Popular music presenters, Myf Warhurst and Zan Rowe, are bringing their show, Bang On, to the stage as they chat about music, art, life and stuff. Canberra Theatre, April 12.
- Circus Spectacular is a show for the whole family, while Infamous is a pairing of circus and cabaret. Both under the Big Top at Majura Park, April 12 to May 19.
Galleries
- Rusten House Art Centre in Queanbeyan will host three exhibitions as part of the Queanbeyan-Palerang Heritage Festival until May 25.
- What You See, What I See? is a new exhibition of paintings by Marie Carver and Natalie Will, at Kyeema Art Gallery, Capital Wines, Hall, until May 5.
- Remake Remodel is a new exhibition by Bruce Reynolds, featuring paintings made of linoleum on wood panels that depict the artist’s take on modernist sculptures. Canberra Contemporary Art Space, Manuka, April 12-21.
Concerts
- The Australian Haydn Ensemble’s Heavenly Sopranos will feature singers Celeste Lazarenko and Helen Sherman performing Baroque-era pieces. Wesley Music Centre, Forrest, April 12.
- Oriana Chorale’s Prayers and Lamentations, music for peace in times of struggle, is at All Saints, Ainslie, April 13.
- Sarah Zhu, James Monro and Paul Nicolaou perform Birth & Rebirth, music for harp, viola & cello, Wesley Music Centre, April 14.
- Canberra City Band is performing a concert called Music She Wrote in which all works are by female composers. Murranji Theatre, Hawker College, April 14.
- The Merry Muse’s feature act on Sunday will be Tasmanian singer/songwriter Ian Paulin, Canberra Irish Club, Weston, April 14.
- Young pianist Charles Huang returns to the Lunchtime Concert Series. Wesley Music Centre, April 17.
