Police are investigating the death of a 35-year-old man at the Alexander Maconochie Centre (AMC).
About 11am on Wednesday emergency services were called to the prison in response to reports of an unconscious man.
Police said staff from ACT Corrections and ACT Ambulance Service paramedics treated the man, however he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
