Qatar Airways is to re-launch daily flights to Canberra, but it would seem not any time soon.
The company says the daily flights, via Melbourne, to the airline’s hub at Hamad International Airport in Doha, will begin no later than December next year.
They will be operated by Boeing 777 aircraft.
Qatar Airways ceased operations to Canberra (via Sydney) during the covid pandemic.
The announcement comes on top of Monday’s launch of sales of Virgin Australia’s new services from Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Melbourne to Doha (operated on Qatar Airways aircraft).
The Qatar Airways and Virgin Australia partnership is still subject to regulatory approval.
