Berani the tiger has died at the zoo

berani the tiger

The National Zoo and Aquarium has posted to facebook that their rare Sumatran Tiger, Berani, has passed in the night aged 15.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Sumatran Tiger, Berani.
The loss of Berani was both unexpected and tragic.
He was born on the 14th September 2000 at Perth Zoo and has been a much-loved member of our zoo family at the National Zoo & Aquarium for over 13 years.
It is an extremely sad and difficult time for all our staff and volunteers. Berani will be greatly missed.
Vale Berani.

Sumatran Tigers in captivity have an average lifespan of 20 years according to animalstime.com.
