THE acting commissioner of the NSW Land and Environment Court, Jenny Smithson, has been appointed to the National Capital Authority (NCA) board.
NCA chair Terry Weber says: “[Ms] Smithson is a qualified and experienced town planner who brings decades of leadership in key areas to the authority.”
“Joining the authority from Sydney and previously from Perth, Ms Smithson’s vast experience complements other existing member skills and will help oversee NCA’s operations while maintaining our commitment to the Canberra community by applying the NCA’s mission to all our work.
“With other key roles in town planning, development matters, governance and community engagement across WA, NSW and the ACT, and as a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Ms Smithson brings a wealth of experience to the authority and to the important role of board member to the NCA.”
Ms Smithson, a former sessional member of the Western Australian State Administrative Tribunal, has held board positions with the Western Australian Land Development Authority (LandCorp), was a senior principal of planning at Cardno BSD Pty Ltd, the national councillor of the Planning Institute of Australia and the director and planning manager of BSD Consultants.
Ms Smithson says it’s a pleasure to have joined the NCA and to work on important projects that help grow and change the capital.
Current authority members are Terry Weber, Dennis Richardson and Sally Barnes.
