A RE-ELECTED ACT Labor government will look into expanding schools in Woden and Molonglo and will commit $33 million to stage one upgrades and an expansion of Narrabundah College.

The party says the $33 million stage one renewal of Narrabundah College will commence in the next term of government and will include upgrading old buildings and replacing the temporary transportable classrooms with permanent modern and energy efficient classrooms.

They don’t say how much following stages will cost, or how much it will be to expand schools in Woden and Molonglo. “CityNews” has contacted for comment.

ACT Labor leader Andrew Barr said that Labor’s program of new and expanded schools across Canberra will cater for the 400 teachers and support staff we will hire over the next four years.

“Our plan to build new schools and renew the schools will also support local jobs,” Mr Barr said.

ACT Labor spokesperson for education Yvette Berry said that a re-elected Labor government will also commence consultation and planning for new and expanded schools in the Woden Valley.

“With Woden’s population growing, ACT Labor will ensure that new families moving to Woden will have access to great local public schools,” Ms Berry said.

“Already, work is underway on the new primary school in the Molonglo Valley that will cater for over 600 students in this growing region, as well as a new high school.”
