ACT man allegedly stole livestock trailers

A CANBERRA man allegedly stole two livestock trailers from a premise in Cooma.

Police believe the trailers were taken by the man, a 29-year-old, from a location on Saleyards Road sometime between 1.30pm Sunday and 8.30am yesterday (July 26).

Following inquiries, officers located the trailers attached to a prime mover stopped on the Monaro Highway, Michelago, at about 9.30am.

At about 12.20pm, police forced entry to the cabin and the driver, the 29-year-old man, fled through several paddocks before running into a nearby dam.

The man was arrested a short time later and taken to Queanbeyan Hospital for treatment.

He was charged with stealing a motor vehicle and driver never licensed.

An outstanding warrant for traffic offences was also executed.

He will face charges at the Queanbeyan Local Court.

Inquiries continue.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au.
