Smoke from pizza store causes evacuation

AREAS of the Florey shopping centre were evacuated this morning following reports of smoke at an unattended pizza restaurant.

Firefighters arrived on scene following emergency calls of smoke logging at a pizza restaurant at Ratcliffe Crescent and Connah Street.

They had to force entry into the unoccupied restaurant, where smoke was coming from a pizza oven.

ACT Ambulance Service were on scene to support operations, however no injuries were reported.

Fire crews conducted ventilation operations before departing the scene.
