CANBERRA Glassworks and Megalo Print Studio + Gallery have hit upon an extraordinarily serendipitous combination of media with their current exhibition, “Glint”.
Now the Glassworks and Megalo have artist Charlie Cohan, Professor of Printmaking at the University of Hawaii and curator of the print collection at the Pilchuck Glass School in Washington State, to conduct workshops this week.
Cohan and participants will explore the range of material and technical relations between glass and print, as well as printmaking techniques relevant to glass.
The workshops will consider glass, ink, and pressure in the form of engraving, sandblasting, and monoprinting techniques, then the preparation of images for translation into photo-resist sandblasting and photo screenprinting.
We’ll be catching up with Cohan later in the week to talk about this unique blend of art forms.
