WORK towards the development of Kingston arts precinct has begun.
A commercial development application was printed in today’s edition of “The Canberra Times”(18/07/11) for additions to the Canberra Glassworks.
The application says: “Proposed new series of rooms with mezzanine floor as a free-standing structure within the existing Fitters’ Workshop and construction of new workshop adjoining the existing building.”
The proposed arts hub is to built on the existing work of Canberra Glassworks and the Old Bus Depot Markets.
The new arts hub will also see the Megalo Print Studio moved to the historic Fitter’s Workshop building – a contentious issue among local Canberra arts groups particularly music groups who are worried of losing the venue, best known for its acoustic and light qualities.
