THE Great Western Sydney Giants will hold their first official AFL Community Camp at Manuka Oval in March.
More than 40 per cent of Giants foundation members are Canberrans, with the team set to play four matches at Manuka Oval next year, including one NAB Cup match and three AFL matches against the Western Bulldogs, Gold Coast Suns and the Melbourne Demons.
“The ACT region is critical to the success of the Giants and we’re thrilled to be able to hold our club’s first ever AFL Community Camp here,” he said.
“I want to acknowledge the AFL for making this happen and also thank the ACT Government for the partnership with the game in Canberra.”
“The AFL Community Camp is a chance for the Giants to embrace the local community and for our players to meet the people of Canberra. For the first time, an AFL club will have real presence in Canberra and fans there can be assured they will see plenty of the Giants during 2012.”
