New services for Canberra’s obese

obesity

CHIEF Minister Gallagher has launched the Obesity Management Service.

“This service will help to provide specific advice to those in the community who are suffering from health issues related to obesity, but more importantly how they change some of their lifestyle habits to reduce their weight and in turn have a healthier lifestyle,” Katy said.

“The Obesity Management Service is provided by a multidisciplinary team consisting of doctors, nurses, a dietitian, psychologist, physiotherapist and an exercise physiologist. The service is provided from the new Belconnen Community Health Centre.

“The service is for adults with a high level of obesity, whose Body Mass Index is 40 or over, and who have one or more other medical problems. Access to the service is through a referral from their doctor.”
