BUS users in Canberra may be affected by Transport Canberra’s new bus timetable and are urged to check it before it begins tomorrow, Saturday 7.
Public transport operations’ executive director David Matthews says this timetable is the first of a series of improvements being made as it works towards the introduction of light rail, and an integrated public transport system in late 2018.
Mr Matthews says key changes will include:
- A new Green Rapid service between the City and Woden.
- A new Black Rapid service between Gungahlin and Belconnen.
- Two months free travel on the Black and Green Rapids.
- The extension of the Weston Line (Route 182) into Denman Prospect during the week.
- The introduction of services through the new Dickson Interchange.
- Blue and Red Rapid services, seven days a week.
- Better connections and improved service times across the network.
“Changes will also be made to services running through the City Bus Station, with services no longer running from Platforms 10 and 11, in preparation for work on Northbourne Plaza. Gungahlin residents will also see Platform 1 return to Hibberson St as works continue on the first stage of light rail and the future Gungahlin Interchange,” Mr Matthews says.
He says minor changes have also been made to dedicated school services. Parents and carers are reminded to check the Transport Canberra website before school goes back for any changes to their child’s bus service.
