Taxi driver robbed

A TAXI driver was robbed early this morning in Holt.

The driver was answering a call in Grimmet Close at around 2.55am, but on arrival discovered the house he was sent to had no lights on.

Police say that while he waited, he saw two people walk out of the park area adjacent to Grimmet Close and approach his taxi and, after a short conversation, one of the men produced a knife and demanded the driver’s possessions. The driver gave them his mobile and the offenders ran back to the park area.

Police are seeking witnesses to the incident. One offender is described as male Caucasian with a fair complexion, early 20s and wearing a dark-coloured beanie, dark trousers and a dark top.

Supt Mick Calatzis said: “This is the third time an offence of this nature has occurred in the past three weeks. Police will be talking to representatives of the taxi industry today about reducing their exposure to this sort of crime.”
