Love is in the literary air

THAT thriving intellectual centre in Braddon, Electric Shadows Bookshop, is busy this spring getting behind literary events.

The first of these is actually at the Alliance Francaise, 68 McCaughey St, Turner, on Friday, September 20 at 6pm with Sarah Turnbull presenting her new book, “All Good Things”. Booking is essential for this event so please contact the Alliance on events@afcanberra.com.au to reserve your place.

The Electric Shadows team  will be there as booksellers and will have stock of both “All Good Things” and Turnbull’s earlier hit book “Almost French”.

The second event is at the bookshop on Thursday, September 26 at 6pm with the launch of Inkerman & Blunt’s “Australian Love Poems 2013” edited by poet Mark Tredinnick and to be launched by Canberra’s Marion Halligan. There will be guest appearances by the editor and local poets Jen Webb, Suzanne Edgar, Lizz Murphy, Charlotte Clutterbuck, Fiona Mcllroy, Victoria McGrath and Alan Gould, who feature in the anthology, will also be there to read.

“Australian Love Poems 2013” is a who’s who of Australian poets,  containing 200 poems from 173 Australian poets including well known poets Les Murray, Judith Beveridge, Cate Kennedy, Robert Gray, Paul Kelly and new poetic talent.

Electric Shadows Bookshop would appreciate an RSVP to 6247 1230 for catering purposes.
