THE Craft and Design Centre of CraftACT has announced its three artists-in-residence – Melbourne sculptor Annee Miron, Japanese wood artist Satoshi Fujinuma, and textile artist Sally Blake, who will participate in the 2014 program, “Bogs and Fens”. Blake and Miron will do their residencies during April at Namadgi National Park and Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve.
CONGRATULATIONS to local glass artist Mel Douglas, who has carried off the acquisitive Tom Malone Prize in Perth, meaning that her winning work, “Camber”, will now become part of the State art collection at the Art Gallery of WA. The judges declared themselves “blown away” by her work.
MUSICA Viva has the Sitkovetsky Trio playing Smetana, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and Vine on April 10 at Llewellyn Hall, but that’s not enough for them. They’re adding on a pre-concert demonstration of violin-making, Music in the Courtyard, a “Young @ Heart Activity” instrument-making session with Jim Sharrock, music from the Tribe Program at interval and a post-concert “meet the artists” session.
