Arts / O’Dempsey performs at NGA ‘family night’

NGA Play
ARTIST Kellie O’Dempsey has been inviting National Gallery of Australia visitors into her living sketchbook since June, and next week in the gallery’s “NGA Play” space, she’ll be performing there for the last time and will be joined by dancers from the Australian Dance Party.

The exhibition itself continues until October 28.

Billed as an experience for the whole family, O’Dempsey’s “living sketchbook” features dark spaces and digital projections and music/sound elements by composer Michael Dick.

The projections will collide with traditional drawing in a series of dynamic and colourful experiences where visitors can follow a never-ending line to shadow puppets, 3D drawing constructions and live animation before getting into the drawing “rink” to, well, draw.

“The never-ending line”,  NGA Play area, National Gallery of Australia, 6pm-8pm, Friday, August 3. Free for children under 15 but bookings are essential to nga.gov.au
