FOLLOWING a joint-agency search, the man was found safe and well near Charlotte Pass at about 12pm today (June 14).
A SEARCH has began for a lone hiker at Kosciuszko National Park after he didn’t return on Thursday (June 12) morning as he intended.
The man, a 44-year-old from Queensland, set off by himself on Wednesday morning to walk the main range track.
Police believe he intended to walk from Charlotte Pass Village to Blue Lake, along the ridge to the summit of Mt Kosciuszko and then camp at Seaman’s Hut overnight.
He was due to return yesterday morning but has not been seen since. He has not made contact with anyone either.
Two Alpine Operations Unit operators set out last night, at about 8pm, on snow transport to Seaman’s Hut but failed to find any trace of the man.
It is believed the man was carrying adequate food, water, clothing, shelter and a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB).
