A STATE of Emergency has been declared for all areas of the ACT in the face of worsening fire and weather conditions.

ACT Emergency Services Commissioner Georgeina Whelan has been appointed as the Emergency Controller.

“In a State of Emergency, it is imperative that everyone is prepared, even if you are not in an area of immediate danger,” she says.

“As a community we must all be prepared ahead of more extreme weather conditions that are forecast for the ACT and our surrounding region in the coming days.”

Until now, the ACT has been in a State of Alert.
