Coronavirus ‘concerns’ cancel lantern festival

CORONAVIRUS “concerns” have led to the cancellation of Saturday’s annual Lantern Festival at the Beijing Garden in Yarralumla.
Chinese lanterns… not this week in Canberra.

Run by the Australia China Friendship Society, it typically features performances of Chinese music, dancing, martial arts and a lantern parade along the shores of Lake Burley Griffin.

“The Festival was going to be held next Saturday (February 8), but in view of growing concern regarding the coronavirus we have decided to postpone it till March,” says ACFS publicity officer Alex Olah.
