Young woman killed in e-scooter crash

A 19-YEAR-OLD woman has died after colliding with a car while riding an e-scooter without a helmet in Kambah yesterday afternoon (September 25).

The crash occurred at about 3.10pm at the intersection near Drakeford Drive and O’Halloran Circuit.

ACT Policing said the rider of the scooter had been thrown a substantial distance across the intersection. She was not wearing a helmet.

Emergency services transported the woman to Canberra Hospital with serious head and leg injuries where she was later pronounced deceased.

It is the 12th road fatality in the ACT this year and the first e-scooter related death in the ACT.

It’s understood the e-scooter involved was not one from the public-hire operators in Canberra.

Police are conducting an investigation into the collision and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
