ARIA-topping Aussie rock group, Short Stack, will be at The Basement this Friday, June 17.

THE 13th year of the “SoundOut” explorative sound, film and visual art festival is coming up at ANU, Drill Hall Gallery from June 17 – 19.

CATHY Petocz’s scary new play set on Black Mountain, “The Initiation”, is being staged by Canberra Youth Theatre as part of its 50th anniversary season. The Courtyard Studio, Canberra Theatre Centre, until June 19.

INTERNATIONALLY renowned ceramic artist Owen Rye presents “Abstractions”, an exploration of abstraction in ceramic sculpture and photography. Canberra Potters Gallery, Watson, until July 10.

M16 Artspace has three new group shows and one solo exhibition running from noon Friday, June 17: Canberra Art Workshop members exhibit including work by the inaugural Mavis Hall Arts Trust Grant winner, Sonya Thoms; “Resistance! Paintings as Provisional Realities” by Ruth Waller, Derek O’Connor, Stephen Pleban and Paul Uhlmann; “Tempo” by StudioMAP; and in Chutespacee, “ShootSpace aka Bad Mudda2” by Vasiliki Nihas Bogiatzis. At 21 Blaxland Crescent, Griffith,  until July 3.

CANBERRA Youth Orchestra presents “Twilight Tales,” an immersive sensory music experience conducted by Louis Sharpe. Belconnen Arts Centre, 7pm, Friday June 17.

GLASS artist Annette Blair explores perception and relationship with everyday objects, working with hot glass and enamels to recreate familiar everyday things. Canberra Glassworks, until August 14.
