Cats rescued from Moncrieff house fire

FIREFIGHTERS in breathing apparatus have rescued two cats from a house fire on Gussey Street in Moncrieff this afternoon (May 18).

The fire reportedly started on the stove top and extended into the ceiling of the two-storey house.

The occupants safely exited the premises when firefighters arrived, and no injuries have been reported.

Bernard Heinze Avenue is currently closed eastbound between the round-a-bout at O’Keefe Avenue and Gussey Street.

Once a Hazardous Materials crew finish conducting atmospheric monitoring, the scene will be handed back to the occupants.
