THE Canberra Raiders are one of four new clubs joining the NRL Women’s League (NRLW) next year.

After being granted a license for the 2023 season, the Raiders will join the Cowboys, Sharks and Tigers in bringing a new team to the NRLW which will see the competition expand to a total of 10 teams.

Raiders CEO Don Furner said the inclusion of the Raiders in the NRLW was a very proud moment for the club.

“Now that we’ve been accepted, we’re looking forward to building our squad and assembling our team for next season,” said Mr Furner.

“Having a team in the NRLW has been a huge focus for our club and now that we’ve been granted a licence, we look forward to providing a pathway for local female participants to play at the elite level.”

The NRLW first kicked off in 2018, having started with just four clubs.

For the first time, Canberra will also host this year’s Women’s State of Origin on June 24.
