Bohemian Rhapsody returns to rock Queanbeyan, reports HELEN MUSA in this week’s “Artsweek”.

THOMAS Crane and his band Bohemian Rhapsody return to Queanbeyan with their new show, “The Ultimate Queen Experience Live”, The B, December 9.

SHORTIS and Simpson are back with their annual political satire show, “ Not Enough Detail”. Smith’s Alternative, December 8.

THE second Hungarian Film Festival, hosted by the ANU Film Group, free with no membership required. Kambri at ANU, to December 8.

IAN Jones and Moraig McKenna will hold an open day at Old Saint Lukes Studio Pottery and Gallery, Gundaroo, December 9 and 10.

AS part of “A Very NFSA Christmas”, the National Film and Sound Archive will be screening “Edward Scissorhands” on December 8 and “Gremlins” on December 9.

ALL weekend is the Canberra Impro Festival, concluding with the Challenge Grand Finale at the Street Theatre on December 10.

  • “BODY Sculpture”, the new animatronic sculpture by international artist Jordan Wolfson, combines sculpture with advanced animatronics to generate emotional and physical responses in the viewer. At the National Gallery, until April.
  • JENNIFER Taylor’s “meet me in the middle of the air” opens at Gallery Bodalla on December 9 with music by Geoffrey Potter.
  • “CREATIVE Distractions”, by artists Di Dibley, Roz Dibley, Anne Kennedy and Marion Schumacher Exhibition. Rusten House Art Centre, 87 Collett Street, Queanbeyan, until December 16.  
  • PHOTOACCESS Manuka has a new exhibition, “Terra: (un)becoming” by multiple artists.
  • A NEWLY newly commissioned work by artist byrd is installed at Canberra Contemporary Art Space in Manuka.
  • “MARDI Gras” by Australian photographer, performer, artist and filmmaker William Yang is now at the National Library of Australia.

  • NATIONAL Opera’s Christmas at the Opera concert and reception, Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture, Barton, December 9.
  • A KOREAN violin concert marks the end of the year for students and amateurs under the guidance of Hyeong Ju Kwon. Wesley Music Centre, December 9. Free event. 
  • DAVID Pereira’s “70 Not Out” series brings “Blown Away,” works for cello, clarinet, flute and piano 1pm, Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture, Barton, December 10.
  • CANBERRA Choral Society’s Christmas concert is “Hodie Christus Natus Est”, Wesley Uniting Church, Forrest, December 10.
  • “SUMMER winds,” classic works by Mozart, Beethoven, Debussy, Prokofiev and Schumann from Lisa McMahon (flute), Ennes Mehmedbasic (oboe), Milan Kolundzija (clarinet) and Jordan London (Bassoon), Wesley Music Centre, December 10.
