A 23-year-old Hackett woman is facing nine serious driving offences after a weekend of alleged misbehaviour in a stolen Mercedes.

On Saturday morning the silver Mercedes C250 sedan was reported stolen from a home in Macquarie. It was spotted later that night on Gungahlin Drive, but police lost sight of it in Franklin.

Throughout the night police attempted to conduct traffic stops on the vehicle multiple times. Police say the car was seen on Cossington Smith Crescent, Wells Station Drive, Horse Park Drive, the Majura Parkway, Anzac Parade and Parkes Way.

During this time, police allege the vehicle was driven on the wrong side of the road, through red lights and at high speed.

On Morshead Drive, Duntroon, police were able to use a tyre-deflation device, however the Mercedes kept going along Pialligo Avenue into NSW.

A short time later police tracked the car in Fyshwick. It was driven on the wrong side of  Northbourne Avenue, Dickson, before the driver was arrested after stopping at Coranderrk Street, Reid, at about 12.20am on Sunday.

During the arrest, the driver released her foot from the brake, and the Mercedes rolled forward a metre causing minor damage when it collided with a police car.

The woman was charged with nine offences – breach of bail, reckless driving, driving a stolen motor vehicle, refusing a screening test, failure to stop for police, failure to stop at a red light (two counts), unlawful possession of stolen property and damaging a police vehicle.
