QANTAS has redeemed itself in the latest figures showing the airline has reduced its cancellations between Canberra and the Gold Coast and reduced cancellations on the Canberra-Sydney route from 10 per cent to less than four per cent in November.
Qantas says: “The unacceptably high number of cancellations on Qantas’ Canberra-Sydney flights has continued to drop, with a change in fleet mix used to help protect the route from disruption on the airline’s regional network.”It’s a mixed bag of punctuality results from this week’s release of data from the Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics.
On national performances for November, the report found, REX had 74.1 per cent of on-time departures compared with Jetstar on 66.7 per cent (in Canberra, Rex has only one daily service to Melbourne).
Despite its recent fleet issues, holiday airline Bonza scored a 73.3 per cent on-time punctuality.
Qantas recorded 63.9 per cent and Virgin on 57 per cent.
