A 30-year-old Macgregor man has had his licence suspended after dash-cam video from a member of the public captured him driving more than 75km/h above the speed limit.
At around 5.45am on September 13, a member of the public was driving south on the Monaro Highway when they were overtaken at speed by a silver Holden Commodore sedan.
The Holden was captured on dash-cam, with this footage later provided to police.
The Major Crash Team conducted a time-over-distance calculation from the footage, which found the speed of the Holden was no less than 168km/h in the 90km/h zone.
The driver was subsequently issued with a Traffic Infringement Notice for speeding more than 45km/h over the speed limit, which carries a penalty of $1841 and six demerit points.
The driver was also suspended from driving in the ACT for three months.
Police say drivers who capture footage of other road users displaying dangerous driving are also encouraged to provide this footage to them.
