Ram-raid Mercedes burnt out in underpass

A police photo of  the burnt-out Mercedes used in two ram raids.

A stolen black Mercedes SUV was involved in ram raids at the Bentham Street Pizza Bar in Yarralumla and the TSG tobacconist in Wright between 4am and 5.30am on Thursday.

Soon after, the stolen Mercedes was set on fire in an underpass located on Darwinia Terrace, between Chapman and Rivett.

Police say the underpass fire caused significant structural damage that will require extensive repair and restoration work. Darwinia Terrace between Angophora Street and Rafferty Street will remain closed for the foreseeable future.

Anyone who witnessed anyone at any of the three locations early yesterday morning or has dash cam footage of the stolen Mercedes SUV should call 1800 333000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website
